MTI's IT Network Administration program prepares students for the successful completion of Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certifications. Microsoft Certified IT Professional certification as a Systems Administrator requires the completion of three certification exams. The MCITP certification replaces Microsoft's previous Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification.

Information Technology - Network Administrator Program Objective

The Information Technology - Network Administrator program is designed to prepare graduates for a career in system administration. Successful graduates will be able to design, administer, and troubleshoot PC networks utilizing Windows operating systems, the Exchange email messaging system, Cisco technologies, and automation tools such as Windows PowerShell. Employers value IT professionals with certifications that demonstrate they have met industry-set standards to handle the ever-changing demands of managing computer networks. The Information Technology - Network Administrator diploma program will help students focus on developing skills to effectively plan, implement, maintain, and support systems in a wide range of computing environments using Microsoft Windows. Students will develop an understanding of the design, implementation, and administration of LANs/WANs utilizing Microsoft technologies. Students will be provided with an opportunity to learn about the Microsoft Server operating system, the Exchange email messaging environment, as well as being introduced to fundamental Cisco technologies and gaining academic experience with automation tools such as Windows PowerShell. The Microsoft related classes use Microsoft approved curriculum that is designed to help students prepare for rigorous Microsoft exams. Exam vouchers are provided for students who meet the requirements of the Test Pass Assurance (TPA) program.

While preparing for certification and employment, students develop skills to effectively plan, implement, and support systems in a wide range of computing environments. This includes applying widely used tools and technologies to perform routine system administrative tasks as well as to design scalable networks. Coursework also covers the installation and upgrade of desktop and server operating systems, and the configuration of services, protocols, access, and routers per client specifications. Additionally, students become proficient in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving network problems using the appropriate tools, utilities, and resources.

Candidates for the IT Network Administrator Diploma program must possess end-user knowledge and facility with the Microsoft Windows environment and the Internet Explorer browser. They must also provide verification of current or recent employment in the information technology industry or evidence of a related industry certification such as the CompTIA A+certificate. If any of these requirements are not met, please refer to the two-year Associate Degree (A.A.S.).
