Award season in Hollywood is officially underway, and we’re already seeing several new and gorgeous hairstyles come out of it. We’ve recently wrapped up the People’s Choice Awards and the Golden Globes, and we’ve loved the do’s celebs chose for those events. We saw a nice mix of styles, some of them chosen no doubt for the People’s Choice Awards due to rain, and we’re expecting similar variety when it comes to the upcoming Oscars.

The following are five hairstyle successes from the red carpets of the People’s Choice Awards and the Golden Globes that we think are most noteworthy. These fab hairstyles will surely give inspiration to stars wondering what to wear for the big night, as Awards Season 2016 continues with The Oscars.

1. Julianne Hough

For the People’s Choice Awards, Julianne Hough wore a sleek topknot, which we’re guessing was due in part because of the rain. The simple and controlled style was perfect for taming any frizzies that might have come about from drizzles and even downpours. Hough opted to let one straight accent strand hang out for visual appeal, which we think was a great choice.

2. Dakota Johnson

Dakota Johnson, who won a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress, chose to rock side-swept bangs and loosely tousled waves. We think she looked effortlessly gorgeous on a day where precipitation was a huge concern.

3. Alicia Vikander

Nominated for The Danish Girl, Alicia Vikander looked amazing at the Golden Globes with a sophisticated up-do that included some intriguing twisted sections, too. Overall, the Golden Globes showed off some ultra-glam styles from celebrities, and Vikander’s style fit right in.

4. Sophia Bush

The One Tree Hill actress pulled her blonde bob into a tidy baby ponytail for the Golden Globes. We think Sophia Bush probably surprised a lot of people with her choice of clean, side part combined with sporty tie-up, and think others might follow suit.

5. Laverne Cox

Not to be outdone, Laverne Cox’s sexy ombre waves caught the eye of many onlookers at this year’s Golden Globes. She wore this trendy style perfectly, too, as she channeled classic Hollywood vixens and the most stylish femme fatales of the industry’s past.

As we head into The Oscars, we’re sure we’ll be seeing even more amazing hairstyles that are worthy of sharing. The great thing about all the styles we’ve seen so far, and will likely view at the Oscars, is that they’re fashions anyone can easily recreate for day or evening looks that will have you feeling as fancy as the Hollywood celebs who we’ll be watching on the big night.
